After departing from Middle Georgia, the group traveled through the beautiful fall foliage areas of the Carolinas. An overnight stay in North Carolina was followed by a trip through Virginia and on into our nation’s capital, Washington, DC. This unexpected drive through the District of Columbia, gave the group a quick glimpse of many of the area’s famous historical sites. The Senior Bankers then continued on to an excellent dinner stop in Delaware and then to an overnight stay in Edison, New Jersey. The next day started with an early morning drive into New York City – The Big Apple! After picking up the step on guide, the city tour included visits to Times Square, Central Park and Rockefeller Center where many on the group enjoyed a visit to the Top of the Rock for a panoramic view of the beautiful city. The tour then proceeded to Lower Manhattan, the financial district, the Freedom Tower at Ground Zero and Battery Park for an excellent view of the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty. After an evening meal at B. Smith’s famous NYC restaurant, the Senior’s then departed for a three night stay in beautiful Atlantic City where they enjoyed a day of leisure in New Jersey and time to visit the Famous Boardwalk and sights along the Atlantic Ocean. After a day in New Jersey, the Seniors then boarded the motor coach for a visit to Philadelphia. The City of Brotherly Love proved to be a very popular destination for the group. Visits to Independence Hall, Betsy Ross’ House, Benjamin Franklin’s grave, the Philadelphia Mint, historic Christ Church, the Liberty Bell and a trip to the top of the “Rocky Balboa” steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art kept the Seniors very busy. Many even topped the day off with a famous Philly Cheese Steak before heading back to Atlantic City.
